T3-90 : THRILLER PROJECT 2007/8

anamatic

We made a short anamatic sequence, by using the images from the storyboard that we
produced. We took pictures of the images from the computer camera, and imported them on to Final Cut. Once they were imported to Final Cut, they were edited to make the images clearer, and appropriate for the anamatic. We also used key frams to crerate camera movement within the anamatic.

Once the sequence had been created and edited, an appropriate thriller soundtrack was added to make the anamatic more effective. The soundtrack was made in garageband by using different samples from the Garageband software to create a stylelised thriller soundtrack to add to the animatic and the thriller.

Initial Ideas

The first step me and my group took was listing initial thriller ideas in bullet point format. The list contained ideas which we thought would make the most effective, typical thriller opening. This method helped us shortlist our ideas, and agree on our final selection. After we had agreed on a storyline which only had brief details at the time, we begun to develop the sequence further by adding more detail in bullet points.

After listing the bullet points, we had developed a detailed storyline, and thought up of a name which we thought we would be able to relate to the sequence. (THE HUNT)

Student Examples- Surface

Structure/narrative/performance
There is not a clear narrative structure, but a confusing/hectic structure is produced with the large number of random images whichs creates a brutal murder.

Camerawork
There is not many different methods of camerawork, but very short clips which only ggives the audience a brief view of what is happening, but these images create an effective opening.

Editing
The opening sequence was cut into very small clips and a mix of colours was used to create a kind of special effect when the titles appeared.

Sound
This sequence mostly contains non-diegetic sound which is a mysterious soundtrack which plays throught the sequence. However, a small amount of diegetic sound is used when the victim is being attacked. The sound used in "Surface" is effective as it relates to the mood of the sequence.

Mise en scene
Little mise en scene is used to emphasise the mood of the sequence, but the confusing immagery and short clips make an effective thriller opening.
